The software may contain a virus or it may include routines which do tasks other than what you intend it to do.

It may contain key logging software to collect personal information such as credit number, passwords, or simple report every web page you use.

Some may have been poorly written and open up you system to additional risk or simply may cause poor system performance.

If the software is pirated software, you risk the lost of your entire system or if you load the software onto a computer at work your job, In addition, there are fine up to $100,000 per copy
