Does anyone know how much medical billing pays? |
I'm looking to get a new job and my current one pays $15 an hour. I would get better benifits with this new job, but none of the ones I've looked into give specifics on wages. They only say that computer and customer service exp. is a must. Computers is no prob and I have 12 yrs exp with cust service. Everyone has been sold on the idea of doing medical billing.. its part of the 'work at home' scams popular several years ago and just recently popping up again.. Medical billing is a formal way and specialized way of doing the billing of the individual doctor or dentist when they bill back the Insurance Company for their payment after seeing someone who has that particular insurance company that covers their medical needs. (IE: Kaiser Permanente, Pacificare, etc. ) Each doctor or other person working for the Insurance company, has to bill the Insurance company after they see a patient. They are given special passwords to get into the Insurance carriers web based site, then have to enter all of the information required on what the patient had done, or the treatment recieved. This is usually done weekly or monthly and is complicated because you use codes and symbles when entering the info for the doctor or dentist or whoever treated the patients. You have to be trained by approved trainers, or by the doctors or treatment people before you can do this. Attorneys and Lawyers have similar billing programs. You cannot just go out and start doing medical billings. You must be hired by a doctor or treatment souce and they are responsible to train you, give you the passwords to get into their accounts etc. Be careful, there are thousands of scams saying that they will train you. The truth is that the doctor who does the billings will train you after he hires you to do that sort of work. Usually its done by one of his office staff members.. Hope this helps..
