Should I keep my job with Verizon after they decide to shut down my office or transfer 50 miles away? |
Verizon is shutting down the office I work in and offering us a package worth less than a years salary or the option to commute an hour east (in massachusetts). I have been with the company 9 years and have a bachelors degree in communication disorders. I am debating going back to school to get my masters but its hard with children/mortgage to pay for. Verizon continually lies to us and I don't feel like there is much job security anymore. Like most corporations they are trying to move our jobs south or into other countries (greedy money hungry #$%$*&!!!). Depends on your salary. If the money cannot be made anywhere closer to home then travel. If you can make a salary that is less but would still be better than the commuting and expense of commuting--leave verizon. No one but you can make that decision, if possible financially, I would stay with Verizon. Weigh out your options financially first, but since your degree is in communications, is there another area of communications that you can work in besides just Verizon? I have to do moderate commuting myself and it is expensive. I would certainly consider something closer with less commute considering the salary commensurate of travel. |
