How much money do CNA's make? |
I've been thinking about taking the 2 month program at a nursing home in the area. I know it's probably going to be a sh*tty, but I need the money right now. I'm from maine... Is anyone a CNA in the area? Do you like it? And how much do you get paid? I'm not a certified nursing assistant, but I do know that their job can be extremely mentally and physically exhausting. The cna must deal with patients or residents (if nursing home/long-term care, called 'residents') that are possibly very agitated and combative (perhaps due to alzheimer's or other type of dementia) while trying to help them get bathed, dressed and the proper nourishment. And please find out first if that nursing home willing to train you expects you to sign a contract stating that you will stay with them for a specified period of time. For general career info: US occupational outlook handbook www.bls.gov/oco and can type into search 'nursing assistant' or such. Good luck to you! not enough for all the work they do but I would say on an average 10/hr. I am a nurse extern so I work with CNA's. The work is very shitty, as long as it is temporary then its fine but it wouldn't be a long term goal of mine. CNAS GET PAID VERY LOW...LIKE A LITTLE BIT ABOVE MINIMUM WAGE AND YOU WILL BE BUSTING YOUR BUTT OFF MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY SOMETHING ELSE LIKE PHLEBOTOMY I am a medical assistant in VA, I make $10.30/hour, CNA's around here make less that MA's do, because they are less educated/qualified. Just like RN's make more than MA's do... Start out as a CNA, and then take medical assisting or liscenced practical nursing classes part time. Good Luck! my ex does that for work and makes 12 dollars per hr in Tampa bay area of Florida there is no shortage of jobs Crap. 8-10 bucks an hour. |
