Risks of being an anesthesiologist? |
I have heard that when things go wrong in surgery, a lot of times they blame the anesthesiologist. I'm wanting to work in the medical field. If I enjoy chemistry, will I maybe enjoy anesthesiology? Yes, if you like chemistry, there is a chance that you may like anesth. Have you ever considered pharmacy? Pharmacy has a lot of advantages. These are: 1) Takes less time to finish compared to med school 2) If you plan everything correctly you can graduate pharm school when you are only 23 years old 3) Starting salary is 75-150k depending on location and need 4) You do not have to deal with blood 5) You will finish faster than your medical school student counterparts 6) You will always have a job, even if you;re 99 year old 7) Most jobs are 9-5 meaning that you will get to have a family life 8) http://www.getintopharmacyschool.com... CONS 1) Insurance - enough said 2) Dealing with patients (sometimes, the bad ones, suck) The primary decision that you have to make is whether or not you want to be a physician. If so, then you'll get a chance to experience a lot of different specialties during your clincial rotations. You'll get a good feel then for what you want to do. The suggestion regarding pharmacy is a good one to explore, especially if you don't want to put the time into obtaining a medical degree. Good luck to you.
