What do I have to do to go to school to be a nurse? |
I am a single mother who would like to go to nursing school. I finished high school 9 years ago, and although I got mediocre grades, I cant get accepted into nursing school. Yet why am I always hearing people who say they dropped out of high school went back and got there g.e.d saying that they are in nursing school. At least I finished high school and I still cant get accepted. I cant afford to quit my job right now, but I would love to hear some ideas. No smart *** replies please. Start with an Associates in nursing. Go to a community college with a nursing program. You'll have to go and talk with a counselor to get specifics. Then if you want, you can transfer your Assoc in nursing to a University so that you can continue on and receive a Bachelors in Science and Nursing. If you do it this way you can work as nurse while you get your BSN. This is what my aunt did. Hope this helps. try to study hard and enter a Nursing school u gotta apply as a mature student.... state reasons why u would succeed in college. Where exactly are you trying to go??? Here in Florida, they are hurting for nurses really bad, I can't imagine you'd be turned down unless you have some awful marks against your character, or credit, that make it likely that you would never pay them back..... Try taking the ACT or some other placement test that the school you wish to attend requires and be sure to include the results with your application. You might score high enough on that placement test to get accepted. Also sending in your high school transcripts couldn't hurt either. Did you try applying at a technical college? The one I went to has an LPN program. Then, if your grades are good enough, you will probably be able to get into a university if you want to be an RN if that's the route you want to go. I'm satisfied with the training at the technical college I went to. You need to talk with a counselor at a nursing school who will advise you what steps to take. There is a great demand for nurses. Many people are not aware of it, but some states ,like Virginia, offer scholarships in all fields of nursing. You do not have to pay them back as long as you agree to work for a certain amount of time ,determined by the amount of money you receive. There are many, many sources out there to help financially,so go for it. Don't wait. Having the desire is the main first step. Not many people have that desire, they just want money. I did it. Find an accredited LPN or Vocational program. |
