I'm a college freshman and still unsure about my career path: Pharmacy or Dentistry?

I'm currently a Bio major because I know I want to do something in the medical field...I'm stuck between Pharmacy and Dentistry and I need to choose fast. So benefits and drawbacks of each would be great! Also, salary, hours of work per week, years of school, difficulty of school, etc.

Thank you!

Well, I don't know what to tell you...I don't know what I want to do either and I'm 20, been in college since 2005 studied and recieved certification in Medical Transcriptionist and Business Management....now I am going for degrees

I have a friend who is going into pharmacy....let me tell you the pay is great....and as far as I know you always have someone there to ask questions to where as dentistry you usually just go off on your own. If I had to choose I would have to say Pharmacy because it has to do with helping people a lot in an area people don't think they need help in...or are more comfortable asking the pharmacist than the doctor....Dentistry to me is awkward with the customers and I don't think people appreciate you enough...the see you as a money sucking wombat lol...and some are...well it just costs a lot and you are seen as the bad person.
Whichever one you more passion for and could see yourself doing.
I don't know anybody that has done both.......but Pharmacy has been good to me.

I cannot comment with authority on the 'life' of a dentist. However when it comes to hours of operation, they got pharmacy beat by a mile.
my wife is married to a pharmacist
Jen there are just too many benefits of going pharmacy compared to becoming a dentist.

The advantages of becoming a pharmacist are:

1) Most jobs are 9-5 meaning that you will have time for family

2) It takes less time to finish and be licensed compared to dentistry

3) Most starting salary are 75-150k depending on location and need

4) You can get $1,000,000 malpractice insurance for only hundreds of dollars per year. compare that to medicine and dentristry

5) You will have a life and a job for the rest of your life
