I want to be a surgical technician but I'm afraid that my accent might be a problem...?

do surgical technicians talk a lot? What if the doctor does not understand me or what if I screw things up. Also, is the pay good? I have heard that it doesn't pay a lot. Is this a good career?

Don't worry about the accent. I'm a military surgical technician, and I've been on a few humanitarian missions. I've had the opportunity to scrub into cases at hospitals run by allied forces. I had the chance to work with Honduran, Korean and Italian teams, all who spoke little English, but we worked together great! No matter what nationality you, your patient, or any of the rest of the patient care team claim, the anatomy remains the same, as do most procedures and instrumentation.

Regarding the pay, I think I've done pretty well. You won't find my name in Forbes Magazine, and I don't drink Crystal champagne on a regular basis. I've been well rewarded because I've been able to help others live where they may not have had that chance, and to me, that's a pretty good reward. I live in a decent house and own two cars. My family has travelled and lived in three continents. I don't have too many complaints. Whether you decide to become a surgical tech or not, do something that makes you happy. Money can help make you more comfortable, but it can't buy happiness.

Good luck in your choices!
I wouldn't think your accent would be a problem. The medical field has people from many countries with many first languages and many different accents working together all the time.
The accent shouln't be a problem as long as you understand your local language. Pay is fair, but maybe you should look into nursing school. They also work in surgery, but the pay is better, and the opportunities are endless. If you decide you don't want to work OR anylonger, as a nurse, you can try something else.
