I am looking at job listings at a hospital. there are positions for a "PCA". What does PCA stand ?

what is a PCA and what do they do?

Personal care assistant or personal care attendant. Typically they are people who assist those who are elderly or disabled with things like dressing, bathing, getting in and out of bed, eating, etc.
Back when, PCA was a Patient Controlled Anesthesia machine , not a staff position .

The job description should have stated the full title , in addition to the acronym .

When in doubt , ask HR / personnel office .
