Can someone explain to me what the role of a Code of Practice is?

A code of practice details the rules and regulations and expectations of the organisation. It shows what is expected of you and the standards you should attain. For example, in nursing it would cover things such as patient confidentiality and maintaining their dignity.
it stands as a guideline and nothing more.
