As a RN, can you choose what department to work for?

i am really scared and have deep fear of the burning-related injuries, i really don't want to deal with it at all. Can i choose not to work for the department dealing with the burning-related injuries?

Yes! Do not work in the Emergency Dept and critical care is probably not right for you either as sometimes they deal with burn victims. Obviously don't work for a burn unit.

You might could try surgery, OB/GYN, Psychiatrics, Geriatrics (old people-long term care), PACU (post-anesthesia care unit), Cardiology, Respiratory, Renal, Dialysis clinics, Neonatal ICU, the choices are endless!

I've been a nurse for a while in cardiac and I've never dealt with anyone with burns.
