Is anybody here a Nurse Practitioner? |
What are the different areas/specialties that NP's can go into? Which ones are more stressful than others and which ones pay more? Also, I'm wanting to go to nursing school next year and I know how competitive it is to get into the master's programs, so....would it be better to just get my LPN and then go back to get my RN so I can get a couple years of experience under my belt or should I just go straight to RN? Do the master's programs generally look at that sort of thing (experience) and would it look more favorable if I had it? Here is a website for general career info: www.bls.gov/oco and can type into search 'registered nurse' or 'nurse practitioner'. I believe that NP's can at least specialize in family practice or psychiatry. www.wikipedia.org is another website for info albeit not the most reliable source. my daughter as LPN worked in medical reserch after nursing school.then she married and raised a family into grade schools, and now is getting collage, and RN nursing degree. YES,i have a nurse practitiioner,as my family Doctor, she had through pre med,and 2 years of medical school. Then the home work was killing, then a year as a enturn in a teaching hospital I would say that she makes 150.000 a year. The same as a Doctor. There isen.to mainy that can afford the cash to go all the way.Rn makes around $ 28.00 a hour.LPN can make $ 15.00 a hour. I wish you well and have a bright fucture. |
