Autocratic boss..................?

My boss is cruel and autocratic and I don't know how to deal with her and how to put her in her place. She is egocentric, aggressive, insincere and extrovert. She is causing the morale in the other nurses to plummet. How do I handle her and her poor way of handling personnel matters?

wow she sounds like a total ***** but think about what you would really REALLY like to do to her and get creative with it ;)
Get an education and start your own business and be your own boss. Otherwise... welcome to life.
get another job.
You have to take chances. If she has a superior you need to decide if you are prepared to risk your job to go over her head. Odds are it may be you that is sent packing but who knows dependent on the qualities of her superior you may make a difference.

If She is the ultimate boss you either bear it or find another job anyway.
Try to avoid her as much as possible but when you can't, just do what is required of you without complaint. There is really nothing else that you can do except to look for another job or get switched to another floor/dept, if possible.
As others have mentioned, you may talk to her supervisor but have to deal with the backlash that may result. Even if she seems the least bit more calm in her approach with people, she may still give you a hard time and have (or show) resentment towards you if she knows that it was you who reported her. And even though HR may say that it's confidential, it usually isn't :) If there is a way to get employment elsewhere, I would go for it and just leave on good terms, 1st class 100% of the time. Someone with her personality type is probably not going to change at this point though what do I know ;)
