Can a I GO to Jail over a 13 dollard nsf check that i had no intention of bouncing? What will happen? |
I could easily pay it but rent is due which is 550 and i barely make that . MY HOME IS MOST IMORTANT TO ME WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE? No, you are unlikely to see law enforcement get involved for that. If you can't pay your rent AND cover the check, see if you can borrow the extra $$ from someone (don't forget to borrow enough to cover the overdraft charge amount). You need a better job, a cheaper place to live and bounce protection from your bank. Sell something you don't need and pay off the hot check. It depends on who you gave the check to. Most individuals will give you a chance. Don't let another day go by without contacting them and telling them you will be by to pay them, then DO IT! The store will probably give you awhile to pay it. Just contact them and explain the situation. They will probably charge a fee of $25 or $30. If you've never done it before, your bank may withdraw their charge for it. Contact your bank and explain your situation. They may waive the fee this time. perhaps, depends on your states laws and if the person who got screwed with your bounced check wants to press charges, I had a friend who bounced a check for $60, 4 years later she had a warrant for her arrest and she was arrested and put in the holding cell until her trial with the judge, (only10 hours later) your best to pay on the bad check before they press charges on you.. and remember if you dont have the money dont write the check... no, you prob wont' go to jail, but you may have several collection agencies after you. So it's best to fess up and pay the check amt along with fees to the 13 people. |
