Quarry about Taxation of Transfferable shares?

My father was holding some shares of various companies since 1960.After his death these shares were transffrered in my mother's name. She holded them till her death and now the said shares are transffered to my name in July -04.
Now if I sell these shares ,the amount received ,will it be taxable?
If yes, at what rate???

There will be no tax if all those shares are listed on any stock exchange. Rate of tax on Long term Gain on Shares is NIL
no it is a long term capital gain so no tax
