Tell me something about advance rulings in service tax?

Advance rulings under service tax law means:
The determination by authority of a question of law or fact specified in the application regarding the liability to pay service tax in relation to a service proposed to be provided by the applicant.

An applicant can be a non-resident or resident who is starting a commercial activity in joint venture with a non-resident. Source(s): The Finance Act, 1994 (Chapter VA) Section 96A
