Wouldn't it be nice is everyone came together and drop their insurance for 1 mth and watch them belly up ov Yeah right, insurance is such a scam... My father was in an auto accident. His auto policy paid his initial medical bills, a portion of his lost wages, and an eventual death benefit. His short term disability policy paid the remaining wage loss. His health insurance picked up with what auto insurance did not pay of his 10 week, multi surgery ICU stay. His auto and short term disability insurance allowed us to keep our home. His life insurance allowed me and my sister to attend college and my mom to only work 1 job (as my dad was the breadwinner) so she could still be there for her children. All in all 100s of thousands of dollars were paid out. Where would my family be without that? My mom would have had to declared bankruptcy due to all the aforementioned bills. We would have lost the only home we knew. My sister and I would have had thousands in college tuition loans to pay not allowing us to afford to stay home and raise our children as we do. Our family would not be the strong family we are today. So I for one will happily write the check to pay for my life, auto, health and disability insurance. You never know when you need it. Insurance is a pooled risk. You may have not have needed it yet and hopefully never will but if you do I am sure your opinion will change. hmm actually I'd have to say no. My mother works for Blue Cross in a management position and loves her job, helping people that can't afford procedures on their own to be able to get help. I agree....Insurance is a total ripoff! A legal scam! Yes, definitely. And I can think of several other kinds of businesses that would flounder if people did not patronize them for a month. Then you get sick with out insurance and have all those med. bills. Then You go belly up. No thanks, I will just keep my insurance.
