Do I have to accept vouchers from insurance company or can i refuse and do I have to accept first offer? |
from my home house insurance You don't have to accept a voucher. If you don't, then you will have to front the money, and submit receipts for reimbursement - and you might not be reimbursed at 100% of your outlay. Example: They give you a voucher to stay at a Red Roof Inn for 5 days. Red Roof Inn costs, what, $40 a night? You refuse the voucher, and go to a Hilton, and get a $200 a night room. They will pay . . . $40 a night. You don't have to accept a first offer, however, they don't have to increase their offer. The burden will be on YOU to prove why their offer is too low. You should probably talk this over with your agent. Source(s): agent, 20+ years Short and simple...you do NOT have to accept vouchers from an insurance company....you CAN refuse....and NO you DONT have to accept the first offer. If they tell you otherwise...they are lying to you just to get you to take it. Thats why ins. companies have independent review boards...if you feel the offer does not have merit...refuse and have the claim re-evaluated. NO insurance company can make you take vouchers or their first offer. no to both of the above. i am an agent and help my clients negotiate offers all the time. no and no http://www.insurance-assurance.com/... You do not explain what the vouchers are for. Home insurance policies usually include a condition which, in the event of a claim, allows them to repair or replace the item as long as the replacement is of equal quality to the original. Example: you break your TV beyond repair and you successfully claim for a replacement. Provided that the insurance company can replace then realistically there is no logical reason not to accept a direct replacement. However, if the original TV had a feature that is no longer available on newer models then they are unable to replace 'like-for-like' and so a cash alternative should be available (if you preferred). Without knowing more details of the claim, and what exactly the 'vouchers' are for then it's difficult to be more precise. For more assistance, contact http://www.ajcconsultants.ltd.uk... |
