This depends on your insurance company. Some run MVRs at renewals and some do not. If you try to change insurance companies, the new company will run the MVR and your rates will reflect it. The best option is to wait it out. If you get slammed with a huge rate increase / surcharge, call your agent and ask why. If there is nothing they can do then its time to get some quotes. Oh yes my frined consider an 1.0L vauxhall nova for your next car, the insurance would be around a grand for that and thats probably going to be the cheapest you'll find. Unlucky pal it's one big scam that gets the shark insurance companies rubbing their hands with glee.

The UK sucks mate, all drivers get done up the arsenal!
