Does husband get Medicare benefits if wife is eligible due to disability? |
I will be eligible for Medicare in Feb 2007 due to disability. I heard my dependent children will also be covered under this health plan. Will my husband be covered too? He is self employed and does not have medical coverage. When I was employed I was the policy holder for our family and he received medical benefits through me from my employer. I read somewhere that he is covered but someone else is saying no. What do you think? If yes, would it include prescriptions? Thanks When you become eligible for Medicare, it will only be on you. No one else, and it does not include prescription coverage. You will need to look into getting the Part D prescription drug coverage. Contact you state ship for more info. Or go to www.medicare.gov No. My husband is on medicare and I am not covered. if you want life security you have to check more info http://www.freewebs.com/getinsurance... No, medicare is not a family plan it is written for individuals. Medical can be extened to family members. If you have children 18 and under residing in the household without insurance, the state will provide coverage for them. Please call your local Social Services Department (Welfare) for more information. It doesn't hurt to call and find out or at least get the paperwork going to get coverage in effect for you come February 2007. |
