I was burned by hot grease at work in PA. Am I entitled to have workers comp pay? |
I was injured at a resturant in PA by hot grease. A guy triped on accident and spilt a large amount of grease on my arm. It was a second degree burn. What am I entitled to? Are you the employee? If you are the employee, you are entitled to have the workers comp carrier pay all the medical bills. You are entitled to lost pay, ONLY IF you miss MORE than five days of work, on a doctor's order, due to the injury. If you miss more than five days of work, the lost wages is retroactive to the first missed day. Second degree burns usually don't result in that much missed time, so my guess is you're only going to get the doctor's bill paid. Source(s): multi-state agent, for 20+ years, including Pennsylvania (which is not a standard workers comp state) Contact you local Worker Comp Board. This is a state agency. You might also contact your state's dept of Labor & Industry. Sometimes they can get involved - for free - if you ask for their help. The first thing you'll want to do is see your doctor. You need to have your arm be as good as it was BEFORE the accident. Getting your arm back as good as new will tell you the extent of your inhury, your pain and suffering. It is not what you say, but rather what your doctor says that will determine what you are entitled to. If you don't already have a doctor in mind, see a specialist, one who specializes in burns. Take care! I'm sure there is a long list of attorneys that would like to hear your story. by right ur restaurant personnel should help u as it was happened at ur working place,u could even sue them 4 not giving u any assistance. best wishes. they should pay for all your medical bills, and probably lossed wages. PLEASE don't contact a lawyer unless they don't pay your bills as they should. But please don't sue the restaurant for some ungodly amount of money......that's the reason our insurance and taxes are so high!!! lol I hope your arm gets better soon, they say 2nd degree burns are the most painful, i hope they're giving you some good pain drugs!
