Is the auto body shop recommended by the Insurance company inferior to the one I select? |
because the insurance company can save money? On the contrary, I work for a major insurer and the body shops have to meet certain criteria if they don't they do not get the contract or loose it if they don't maintain certain standards of service and workmanship. The insurance company especially a top company will not put it's name and reputation at risk with poorly performing body shops. if you go to your own body shop which you have every right to do, you are at their mercy as far as any guarantee they give you.Good Luck!!! Source(s): Licensed Claims Adjuster and Agent If you have a reputable insurance company, go with them. If there is any problem w/ the repair, they have the leverage to push the company. A maverick company can shrug off the repair, knowing they are too small for the insurance company to go after. Usually not. Just like Sam's Club "buy in bulk & save", auto body shops that are in a "direct repair" agreement with insurers have to maintain their standards to keep the contract. Yes, usually the labor rate is cheaper, but that means if you have a problem and go to your insurance company to let them know, there's a lot more clout behind the complaint. check them out to be sure. Check with you insurance company. Normally, if they send you to one of their repair shops, they will guarantee the work. The bottom line is, for me anyway, is as long as ther repairs are done right, who cares who did it. Barry. 20 year insurance professional. |
