What is the Nasdaq Global Select Market?

And what does it mean when they delist the company's securities from the Nasdaq Global Select Market?

Its a market cap weighted index that measures all NASDAQ domestic and international based common type stocks listed on the Global Select tier of The NASDAQ Stock Market.

Fancy isn't it? Its the old National Market System, or NMS Composite, renamed for probably marketing purposes and to reflect the global nature of the companies listed on it.

The NMS, or now the Global Select, has higher listing standard than other tiers of the NASDAQ so if a company gets delisted from it it most likely either no longer meets those criteria, or got bought out/taken private.

Here is a link to NASDAQ's FAQ on the Global select.
