What's up (or should I say down) with the stock market lately?

The 'official' explanation seems to be that the liklihood of an interest rate cut has decreased.

In practice however I think that stocks have moved up strongly lately, there have been a few bits of less than great news about the underlying economy, and a few people are taking some cash off the table. Remember in the grand scheme of things theres nothing unusual about the market shedding 2-3%.
Most experts on CNBC say it's a market correction which makes sense.
