Reliance Petroleum Ltd is considered to be Large Cap, small cap or midcap Equity , if so than whats the logic?

RPL is definitely a large cap.

Its all determined based on market cap of the company. below is a broad guideline to help you determine -

Micro-Cap: capitalization below INR 250 million.
Small-Cap: capitalization between approximately INR 250 million and INR 1 billion
Mid-Cap: capitalization between approximately INR 1 billion and INR 10 billion
Large-Cap or blue chip: capitalization over approximately INR 10 billion
Its not anything... as far as i see it trades on the pink sheets for fractions of pennies .... to answer your question it would best be classified a Micro-Cap.. since number of shares outstanding * price per share is so small.... Did you get this stock off the fax machine? hot tip at work?....

Number of shares trading*price per share= market cap
guidelines vary but in general 10 billion and up is large cap
1 billion to 10 billion is mid
250 million to 1 billion is small
less than 250 million is micro
Nifty 50 constitutes the largest companies in India. RPL is a Nifty constituent and therefore on the basis of its market capitalisation of Rs 44,302.50 crores as of 07/05/07, it is considered to be a large cap.
