How much are the dollar bill misprints worth? |
what are the things i should be lookin for to see how much its worth? While I am not an avid paper money collector (I collect coins), I do know a little bit about it. There are several places you can go online for information such as my personal favorite, http://boards.collectors-society.com/pos... Now, a few things. If you have not preserved this in any way, the bill (note) will not be worth nearly as much. For example, any folding or creasing of the note will diminish it's value. Conversely, trying to repair folds or creases, such as ironing the note, will decrease its value as well. To preserve the condition, and best value, get a holder for your bill, such as a rigid vinyl sleeve, or even two pieces of cardboard to place the bill between. Depending on where you go, who you talk to, and whether or not the note is "certified" (graded and encapsulated by a professional grading service), which service you use to grade, the condition of the note, or its scarcity, you may get wildy different values. If you have a local coin shop, they may be able to tell you its value, and, if the shop is worth its salt, will have the rigid vinyl sleeves for preserving the note. If you are just interested in selling your note, they may buy it from you. If this is the route you take, please make sure the coin shop dealer is a member of the ANA (American Numismatic Association). While this wont completely protect you from being scammed, the ANA has a code of ethics, and will take action against the dealer for violating them. Other possibilities include Ebay. Though I have never really looked at paper money there, the coins do very well. You might be able to ballpark the value of your note there as well, but dont take that value as scripture. I would recommend doing all three things I mentioned. Post a message on the forum I gave you, research the value on Ebay, and visit your local coin shop dealer.
