How do I know when a stock goes "On Sale" ?? |
How do I know when a stock goes "On Sale" ?? I do know one way to tell. It applies only to closed end funds however. When the price of the fund is 15% below the net assets of the fund, chances are very good that that fund is on sale. Here is a link where you can check out the ones on sale. Notice that all the Chinese funds and Indian funds are on sale currently. And most surprisingly the Swiss fund also. http://www.etfconnect.com/select/rank/de... Another time that stocks go on sale is after they have fallen in price for about 2 years. Heck of a good time to buy. Unfortunately, that occurance comes only about once every 10 years or so. We are about due for another sale in a couple of years from now maybe. It would be a good time to put together your shopping list. Sometimes, stocks of particular companies go on sale when there is some really bad news associated with the company. Take AIG for instance. That stock went on sale back in 2005 when it came out that the company was giving kickbacks to insurance brokers. MRK went on sale about that time also when its arthritis drug was taken off the market. Currently, there is some thought that GM might be on sale. Might not be on sale too. Might be gasping for its last breath. Same with F. Read the IPO notices in the Wall Street Journal. |
