What I Learned About Budgeting?

what did you learn about budgeting from years of experiencing it

That budgeting is necessary to achieve any long term goals.

That budgeting requires a personal willingness to at times postpone gratification.

That budgeting is necessary to utilize money as the tool it is intended to be in life's journey.

That budgeting for me requires the physical act of either with pen and paper recording or via a software program, recording my expenses, income and goals so that I have a visual reminder of my long term financial plans and I am better able to actualize my goals with these figures in concrete rather than abstract terms.

That budgeting can result in reaching goals more quickly and with a greater degree of success - budgeting helps me master my finance rather than my finances being my master.
It's worthless unless you AND YOUR SPOUSE agree to be confined by it.
