What is the minimum time an employer has to give you compassionate leave to sort things out when your dad dies First, if this is YOUR dad we're speaking of, then I'm very sorry. Please accept my condolences. Second, and sadly, there is no requirement for an employer to give any bereavement time off. Most employers do; usually it's about a week of paid or unpaid time off for an immediate family member. Your HR person should be able to give you a copy of the bereavement pay policy. In reality most states do not force an employer to offer a berevement leave. Most employers offer 3-5 days for berevement and usually allow flexible use of personal and vacation time to help. depends what type of job you have. when i worked at a supermarket is was 2 days, but at my 'real' job you can get up to a week. Every company is different but the minimum paid time off is usually around 3 days. I am sure if your employer is compassionate, you can arrange for additional time off - probably unpaid They don't have to give you any time off it they don't want to in this state...some places are compassionate and give you grieving time and some places even pay you for that time off but most of the time they're not that understanding Hi compassionate leave is not a legal right in the UK. Most employers provide leave at thier own discretion so there is no limit to how much you can take it is up to your employer and any policy they have in place I am an employer |
