Is it legal for Somone to photocopy my license?

I was wondering. My friends' dad tried to photocopy my license..luckily i did not have it. Is it illegal for him to do that. Especially when he had NO intent of telling me he had it on file?

No, it isn't illegal.
it is not illegal, but why the %$#$ would he need this for?
Why was he trying to photocopy your license? Do you work for him? Then he would need the copy for I-9's that are required. If he attempted to photocopy your license as you state without your knowledge or any legitimate reason it is absolutely not legal and a form of theft.
You are right to be aphrendsive if he has no reason for needing this information. You should be careful with personal information because of the risk of identity theft.

Employers can require it but inherently it is not illegal to copy.
Illegal, no. Questionable, yes. An employer had the right to verifyu your ID (driver's license and social security card, or birth cert, or passport, etc.) when you are hired for a job.

Most lawyers recommend that the employer visually verify the ID but NOT retain copies on file because the data could be compromised and the employer could be at risk of incurring liability for releasing personal identification info.
why does everyone think there are laws that cover everything? It's not illegal to copy a license.
