Can an employer Keep you from going to your spouse's grandmothers funeral? |
Can an employer Keep you from going to your spouse's grandmothers funeral? Sorry you are dealing with this problem. Some people can be terrible when you work a job......you face some terrible stuff. Ive been out of work since 2002 for this reason. They probably are thinking "it's not YOUR grandmother". Do what is in your heart for your family and just face whatever comes later. Let the universe take care of those terrible people. Forgive them and move on if you have to. Follow your bliss. Enjoy your life. I hope this helps. Source(s): http://www.gettheexperts.buildlastingsuc... Depends on your company, but most companys are required to give you 5 days of greivence or something like that. An employer has a right to do whatever they want basically. If they need you there, they need you .. Did you give them enough notice about the funeral though? Check with HR, or consult your employee handbook. family comes first, unless your employer is govt and u need to be there. Even then, a leave of absence formally presented may be a good idea in any org You need to check with Human Resources or personnel to find out what they consider immediate family. Most employers allow time off for immediate family, if they are not considered immediate family then it is your responsibility to take vacation time. |
