What is the difference between legal obligation and ethical obligation?

What is the difference between legal obligation and ethical obligation?

Legal obligation is one that is enforced by a judgement upon a person by law, ethical obligation is one that is done because it is the right thing to do.
Say you're driving late at night in the bad part of town. You see someone stopped along the road, smoke coming out from under her engine. You have no legal obligation to help out, but wouldn't it be the ethical thing to do?
I have to pay a speeding ticket = legal obligation
I'm your doctor but can't tell your mom you have the clap = ethical obligation
Legal obligation is what one has to do according to the law. Ethical obligation is what one's conscience says is the right thing to do.

For example, there is no law saying that you must return a lost wallet to the owner. You could just say, "finders, keepers" and keep the $$. However, the ethical thing to do would be to return it to its owner.
