If I become a patent lawyer, can I still practice other types of law, such as criminal?
a patent lawyer would actually be one specializing in IP (intellectual property)- after getting your "generic" law degree and passing the bar(which would allow u to do any kind of law) you would take a special test to be "board certified" in your particular area of interest (IP). so being specialized does not limit u to only practicing one type of law.You can answer this question yourself once you finish law school. The answer will be very easy. You can, but a severe risk of a malpractice suit.
