I was fired from my job "because i was looking for a job online "at work"..can i get unemployment? |
im in the state of florida It is highly likely that you will receive unemployment. If you are involuntarily terminated, you will normally be granted unemployment benefits except in the case of gross misconduct (such as theft, harassment, violence, etc.). If you are granted unemployment and the company disputes it, you will just need to go to a hearing. Sounds intimidating, but it's really nothing to worry about. Good luck! Source(s): Human Resources Professional. yes, I believe you can depending how long you've been working there. https://ui.labor.state.ny.us/ubc/home.do... Do you think you deserve unemployment when you were looking for another job while working for someone else?? If your employer fights your request for unemployment, you might not get it. It sounds like they had a good reason to fire you. If they caught you doing that, they probably have documentation of other things you have or have not done too. You will be notified when you file. Your previous employer has ten days to answer the request from you. You will get a copy of it. Likely not. Misappropriating company resources is a "for cause" firing, so I doubt you'd qualify for benefits. If you want to look for a job, my suggestion is to look in your off hours at home or the library or a friend's house. It's never a good idea to look for work while you're at your job. The state of Florida is an "at will" they dont need cause. If you were using their internet to look for another job, then yes can fire you. Florida department of Labor |
