i work 4 a very small company my boss is very sick and may die any time. he does not want me to take over his job and does anything to make me mad today i left 4 lunch 2:15 and didn't punch out but i had took over for one of the bosses friends when he left 4 lunch and he didn't punch out so when i left i didn't when i got back at 2:45 my card was and writin 2pm. if it was 2pm when i left and he had punched my card i would not have had a problem but i hand wrote the time in. is this the right thing 2 do or am i just mad 4 no reason.
if you do not clock out and he caught you then he/she can write you out - but do not get mad go to him and explain to him the 15 min difference. That would be the mature thing to do. Being a boss myself, I frequently have to "adjust" employees time cards. Many employees clock in and out and cheat their employer out of a couple of minutes every day. It's normal, and it's not that the employee is doing it maliciously. However, those minutes add up at the end of the week and sometimes lead to unauthorized overtime. In your case, it's just a misunderstanding. Ask the guy that told you not to clock out to explain to your boss why they owe you for that time and that it was his idea not yours. This should clear things up. FYI, your supervisor on the job has every right to review and adjust your time card. If you feel you are being "docked" unfairly, you should speak with your supervisor.
