Is it legal for an employer to deduct till errors from your wages?

I have a part time job and there are several of us working the till . My employer has said that they will deduct the money from my wages if there are any mistakes . They certainly don't pay me extra if the till is over ! . Is this legal ? Oh btw , scottish law .

no isnt legal, see the citizens advice
I don't think it is but check with the CAB.
dont think so
get some legal advice
It is legal if it is mentioned in your contract.

If its not in your contract it is an 'Unlawful Deduction from Salary', and definately illegal.
Check that it is part of your conditions of employment. Also contact the trade union USDAW if you are a member.
I certainly wouldn't think so! They'd be within their rights to use their disciplinary procedure if it happens a lot, but not to take your wages.
