Unemployment question? |
I recently quit my job, my boss, the president of the company. Starting screaming at me inches away from my face like the guy on Hell's Kitchen, throwing papers in my face etc. Because "he was having a bad day". Unemployment ruled in my favor by saying a had just cause to quit. Because I felt threatened, and unsafe by continuing to work there. Then, he appealed and unemployment ruled in his favor. Unemployment said" that I could not prove that the abuse occured or continuing employment would cause extreme hardship. Even though he admitted to the incident. What can I write to unemployment in my appeal that may make rule in my favor? Do you have any way to prove that the abuse occurred? Witnesses, surveillance video, anything like that? Any other current or former employees that have been threatened by this person and ended up leaving as a result? You can bring witnesses to a UI hearing and it might be a good idea to do so in this situation. as usual the big man wins and the little man loses. good luck i hope you can do it and get what you deserve. It probably more troublesome to find justification than finding another job. Really, don't waste your time on unemployment. It's not worth it. Find another job! Next time, hold your ground till they fire you! Best of Luck! All you can keep doing is appealing the case and providing proof as necessary. If he admitted this then there should be some record of it, like a recording since most hearings are recorded. Request a mediator that was not involved in the first appeal and request that the recording be heard. If you still lose at this point don't bother anymore to be honest. Its not worth the hassle and contrary to belief unemployment is not your money that you paid in but a tax that the company paid in. ex career counselor Find your states fair labor board, maybe they can be of help, unemployment dept. decisions can be overturned by a higher jurisdiction. |
