Job Interview- Class C Misdemeanor?

I have a job interview in two weeks. I had a Class C misdemeanor charge when I was 16 for theft. It was at a new job that I started and a co worker had a friend come in who stole some items from the store. I witnessed it and the co worker threatened me about saying something. I was scared and young at the time and did not report it. Needless to say we all were charged for theft. It went to court and I was granted 1 year unsuporvised propbation and it was deffered. I also in 2005 was picked up for a PI this charge was dimissed. Any thoughts on how to overcome these objectives in an interview. I have to put them on the application because I don't know it they will still show up on a background check. The theft charge was never found until my last job did a search.

what's your age now.? If it's been long enough, say 2 years and you have changed. no further arrests. don't worry. but be honest onyour application.
Normally an employment background check will only go back 7 years and they are mainly looking for felonies, one thing you can do is check into having charge expunged.
Depending on your state laws (here your not legal age until 17), you most likely were charged as a juvenile, and if that's the case, all juvie records are sealed and they wouldn't know that you had ever been arrested. But seeing how you stated that your last job seen it on your criminal background check, then you must have been charged as an adult. In that case, you can speak to attorney and have your record expunged,, This is where you go before and judge and they can wipe out your criminal record. Until then, you have to be honest with them and let them know that yes you had a incident, but you were young, and dumb lol. They'll appreciate that your being honest with them, it'll show that your more of an adult now, and that you've take responsibility for your actions.

Good luck
