I have a question for all paralegal's working at a law firm?

How do you deal with a lawyer that is slave-driver? My boss can't do anything himself, I'm working all the time and have no life? Any Suggestions?

Heather, my brother and I have over 22 years of experience working for lawyers.

They don't change. He doesn't want to hear what you have to say, you work for him and that's it.

I would suggest looking for another job. If you are in a small town, you have to tell your guy you are leaving, it will get back to him. Just tell him the truth.

You have to leave, it will effect your health. Stress kills.
teach your boss simple survival skills so he/she can be more self sufficient. request they send you emails rather than interrupting you with tasks all the time. have weekly meetings to streamline the work load and priorities. if all else fails, fina a new job. there are plenty of great attorneys to work for that will work you hard but give you the time and space to let you play hard too! good luck!
I don't think there's a lawyer alive that can do much for himself. My boss jokingly tells me to wipe his a** because he can't do it alone. Then I tell him to go f**k himself, lol. It's the nature of the job, and it's probably worse in a small firm like I'm in (it's just me and the boss). You kind of have to weigh the pros and cons of your individual situation. I'm on salary, I basically come and go as I need, no loss of pay when the kids are sick or when we have personal appointments, he could give a rat's behind as long as the work gets done. So I don't mind drafting documents at home, and running errands around town when I'm running personal ones too. But if you don't have that kind of freedom, and you feel like you live to work, something needs to change. If you have an uncompromising boss, it might be time to look around.
