Is pursuing a career as a courtroom stenographer rewarding?

i'm interesting in pursuing a career as a courtroom stenographer. does anyone have an idea of what the salary is for the state of california? con/pros of this type of work. is pursuing this job as a career worth my time or should i pursue something else? please be honest...

My sister did that in Missouri, she has made a great living for herself, she really worked hard at it and became president of the court reporters for the state of Missouri, but she works a lot of crazy hours taking depositions and typing up things, she is on the go alot, she started her own business and has girls working for her now. She lives pretty well to say the least.
