Can you obtain unemployment from your job if fired?

Can you obtain unemployment from your job if fired?

Apply at the unemployment office---they will say yea or nea...
Usually you can, however it may be based on the reason for the firing, how long you've been on your job and your state's guidelines.
You can do, as you are still without a job and are therefore unemployed.
It depends. If you are laid off or fired because of the company downsizing, you usually can collect. If you were fired because you were not doing your job for example...usually not.

Once you try to file, the unemployment office checks with your former employer for the reason.
Absolutely. That's what it's there for. You will have to look for a job while you collect, though.
It depends on why you were fired. For example if theft was the reason you would not be eligible. Also, the state will probably have guidelines that you have to meet. You need to go your local unemployment office and file a claim.
Unless you were fired for misconduct, usually yes.
