Dispute help?

I was hired and then the company did a background check..My last employer was giving them completely false information saying i had a bad attendance record (Not true at all..never missed a day) now they said I cant work for the new company now because im not up for re-hire with my last job...they said i can dispute it...i thought the other manager from the last job who i thought i was good friends with was going to write me a letter stating that I was a good employee and my attendance was perfect.....well now shes not answering my calls...how can i still dispute this without her? please help

In most states, it is illegal for a company to prevent a former employee from obtaining employment with another employer by providing false and malicious information. I'd contact your state Department of Labor and file a complaint since your former employer refuses to resolve the matter with you.
