What kind of job do recently graduated law students get while waiting for bar results? |
Anyone know?? I'm sending out applications for real law jobs, but what do recent grads do for money in the meantime? Only real responses please. There are a few rare law firms who will hire those who are waiting for results, depending on your grades in law school. That is the best type of job to get and the toughest. I worked as a law clerk in a small firm. I wanted to get experience and was unable to get a firm to hire me as an attorney. I was hired as a law clerk at a clerks salary. Once the results came in my salary and title changed to associate. My theory is that a person who just graduated needs to get their foot in the door with a law firm, doing whatever they will hire for. I offered to do anything, including word processing, just to get with this firm. Good luck. Source(s): Employment attorney since 1993 Most of us take out a "Bar Loan" to cover expenses for the few months between graduation and the Bar exam so we can study for the Bar exam. However, many of us also work as law clerks for our employers until we find out if we passed the Bar. I clerked part-time (6 hours a day) while I studied for the BAr exam (8-10 hours a day - 12-14 on weekends). I'm an attorney. seek employment at law firms. Even if they may not need you as a lawyer, you can just help other lawyers or be a law clerk or an associate. |
