My Answer for you Man, is too Call your Local Employment office, and file a Complaint with them, and Let them duke it out for ya! You may be owed Unemployment Compensation. As long as you called in as early as possible and not 2 minutes before you were supposed to arrive to work then it is acceptable to call in using sick time: thats what its for! I dont believe it is illegal - but they shouldn't do that. If they punished you (fire or write up) because you didnt come in - then that may be illegal.
