In Florida, if you call out sick using sick-time, can an employer call you later to make you come in to work?

In this case, when calling out, the employer initially granted the time and then later called back and indicated that the employee must come in and work the assigned shift.

My Answer for you Man, is too Call your Local Employment office, and file a Complaint with them, and Let them duke it out for ya! You may be owed Unemployment Compensation. Talk with those guys or Gals at the Employment Commission, Thats why there, their too Help! Jim Jones; Richmond, Va.
I don't know if they legally can do it or not, but they shouldn't do it. As long as you called in as early as possible and not 2 minutes before you were supposed to arrive to work then it is acceptable to call in using sick time: thats what its for!
I dont believe it is illegal - but they shouldn't do that. If they punished you (fire or write up) because you didnt come in - then that may be illegal.
