Is it illegal to get fired from a job because I am pregnant?

If so what can I do? Who can I contact?

Legally, being terminated due to pregnancy is a violation of The Pregnancy Discrimination Act, which is an amendment to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The agency that handles complaints for that is the EEOC and possibly your state's Human Rights Dept. go to www.eeoc.gov/types/pregnancy.h... for information.

Unlike criminal actions, where you call the police and they handle the problem, in employment violations you must file an administrative complaint with the EEOC and your state's human rights area (if they have one). The complaint is then sent to an investigator within the EEOC who contacts the employer.

Once the complaint is filed you can have your attorney ask for a Letter For Right To Sue and take this into Federal Court or you can allow the EEOC/your state to continue the investigation. Either way the results are not instantaneous, sometimes it takes more than a year for the investigation.

Look at the EEOC website and do an Internet search for your state's Human Rights Department/commission/area that handles employment discrimination. You may want to contact a local employment attorney to handle your complaint. Good luck. Source(s): Employment attorney since 1993 www.lawyer4employees.com
Yes, it is definitely illegal to fire someone just because she's pregnant. Contact your state employment commission. If they don't help, get a lawyer.
Nothing is illegal. Or, if you have the money for a lawyer, everything is illegal.
You cannot be fired from a job because you are pregnant. If that is the ONLY reason you were fired, contact your state's labor board to file a complaint.
oh yes.........it is.
contact your local ACLU chapter. (American Civil Liberties Union)
The *&%# is going to hit the fan. Ya'll better duck....
