How much years of law (School) does it take to be an police officer? Check with the police department you are interested in working for, they will have the education requirements. None, you dont want law. you want criminal justice. and i think its about 2. Youll need something else too but I cant remember what it was. Where I live, you only have to have 2 years of college to go into the training program. police officers don't go to law school, lawyers do. The amount of education varies with states. Some require a 4 yr. college degree, some don't even require a high school education. Many states leave education requirements up to the individual police departments. One thing for sure, the more education you have, the better your chances of getting hired. Police officers don't go to law school, they go to a police academy. In California, you can enter the academy at age 20 1/2 (you have to be 21 to graduate and find employment as a peace officer). It doesn't require any schooling after high school, although, for promotional purposes, it is good to have some college credits. |
