Is it legal NOT to give female inmates underware?

I know this is an odd question, but it is it legal for a jail not to give thier inmates (female) atleast one or two pair of underware? I know they are available thru commisary, but what about those that can NOT afford them, those inmates that are not receiving money from family & such. Anyone that knows please let me know! Thanks so much!

It is not legal. It is a hygine issue. Like having a tooth brush and tooth paste. Or toilet paper. It should be in the inmate handbook. They provide towels, soap, tooth paste, pants, shirts, etc. Men get underware so why not women.
probably different for each state.
no idea but id be surprised if they didn't give them one pair..at least bottoms
Can't you bring yours from home? I don't think they necessarily need to provide them, but I can't be sure.

If you are not allowed to bring any from home, they should provide the very basics at least.
I believe that all inmates have the opportunity to do work programs for which they get paid (ie. roadside cleanup, etc), to be able to buy things from the commisary.

If your "friend" is too lazy to do that, then I don't feel sorry for her.
