Can you take the CLA exam if you get a certificate through a correspondence school? |
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities, 5 years of experience as a File Clerk in a law firm, and I am studying Paralegal studies through Stratford Career Institute (which is a correspondence school (through the mail)). I know that the NALA has specific requirements for those people who can take the CLA exam. Would I be able to take the CLA exam after I get my certificate through Stratford? No, if this paralegal studies course doesn't award you a Juris Doctor. Why not sign up for a law school course - that can also be done through correspondence school. Then, you first need to take the First Year Law Student's Examination (FYLSE), also called the "Baby Bar." After you have done that, and passed, you can continue the law school correspondence and then after 4 years, take the California Bar Exam. More information can be found at the link below: Source(s): http://calbar.ca.gov/state/calbar/calbar... http://www.calbar.org/pub250/b/s0080-a.h... To the "Star" person, NO, I am NOT talking about becoming a LAWYER. You don't get a Juris Doctor to become a Paralegal. You get a certificate. You don't take the bar exam to become a Paralegal. You take the bar exam to become a lawyer. |
