Reason For Leaving Job?

I worked at a bank with 6 others. About 8 months ago, one of the co-workers was fired for insubordnation.

Well, about 2 weeks ago, the same guy that was fired decided to rob one of our branches. Once we found it out was him, the management fired myself and several others. We were told it was due to the company honesty policy, but I think it is due to security. Regardless, our seperation notice says that we broke company policy.

We were even questioned and cleared by the FBI.

None of us knew what this guy had done or was up to. We work in a hire at will state, which means we can be fired pretty much for anything. All of the lawyers we have spoken to have said that our case would have win in court. We are currently going through the red tape to fight this firing.

Now, I am wondering what do I put on job applications where it says "Reason for leaving last job"? I don't want to put "will explain upon interview" but I don't want to put the entire story. Any help?

Just put personal, they will understand later on. Then, you may elaborate on a story if ASKED! That it was for such and such reasons we were apologized too and it was company policy and for security purposes. However make sure that company has good reference for you.
Perhaps "group layoff" would be appropriate -- as a group you were let go. However, personally, I would put "Group Layoff -- will explain at interview" and give them a better explanation.

Chances are, they have heard of the case so you will be giving them enough information that, if they are aware of it, they will not consider that you are attempting to hide anything.
I would put "fired due to honesty policy"? That seems to explain it best. If they have any questions, give them the very short version and don't drag it out, just say you're fighting it in court.
You could say that it was because of a bank robbery which the FBI determined you were not involved in.
You do not have to say. It is illegal for the previous employeer to say why you left. They can only confirm employment dates.
Just put "Laid off - details provided upon request."
What a story - good luck!
i would not discuss the case in yahoo / i would not discuss the case with a potential new employer.

i'd just put down the dates that you worked and say you were part of mass reorg/downsizing. it's truthfull , sounds like several of you were dismissed and they did in fact downsize. no need to give all the extra detail .

companies will be afraid to hire someone even remotely associated with a roberry and they run from any employee that is involved with litigation.
