Should I say during the interview? |
Hello I am going for an interview today, and I was wondering as I have a holiday booked on the 3rd Oct for two weeks - Should I tell them, if they dont ask? If they do then I will tell them obviously, could they hold this against me and not offer me the position? I'm just not sure where I stand. TIA Alix x If this is JUST an interview and NOT a job offer, then no. You may feel it's being courteous, and it is, but its not appropriate in the interview. Wait until and IF they extend the offer. You FIRST want to make sure they even want you. If you start talking about time off in the interview - you may disqualify yourself because they may assume you are more worried about that than the actual job. I hear sooooo many applicants ask about time off before they even ask questions about the job, and that automatically puts doubt in my mind about where their priorities are. Wait until they've extended the offer and that is the perfect time to "be courteous" to them as the potential employer and inform them of the pending holiday. Since they've already made the decision at that point, then they will usually be more willing to try and work around it. Good luck. actually let them do the asking and u should only answer when asked upon. now that depends if they ask u when can u work.. now this depends on u... if ur really interested in the job better postpone ur vacation... Speak only when spoken to in the interview! Tell them only if there's a clash or a possibility of a clash. You are not obliged to let the interviewer know of your holiday plan unless you've been offered the job. However, it would be nice if they know in advance your plan commencement work day so there's no harm letting them know even if not asked. They probably will ask. However if they don't you're not obliged to say, but it would probably create a better impression if you did. Bear in mind that most companies put you on a probation period where they only have to give you a week's notice to leave and no reason and I doubt you'll have got through this by October so if they don't like it they can get rid of you anyway. Having said that I can't see that any reasonable company is going to make a huge issue about it. Good luck. It is always better to speak rather not to open ur mouth at all.
